Last Date:

Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street, Alexandria, Virginia

Historian of the African Diaspora, C.R. Gibbs, will lecture on the inspiring achievements of little-known African American women in one of the crucial periods of our nation's history. Gibbs will uncover a new cast of women whose actions, large and small, local and national, and set against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict, helped to mark them as firebrands of freedom.
