This year's Featured Poet of Distinction is Washington, DC Poet Laureate, Dolores Kendrick. There will also be presentations by nine additional poets/presenters (three of which are youth and three are the host presenters) along with presentations by The Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers (a 30-minute pre-event African drumming & dancing segment opens the celebration at 12:30 pm). The renowned classically-trained Soprano, Karen Wiggs-Wilbanks will also perform at this event. This is a free family-oriented celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King. All are invited.
