DDOT’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Supportive Services Program, in partnership with the 11th Street Bridge Project Management Team, will host a Contract Basics Workshop – Project Close-Out Part 1--Legal.

Project Close-Out Part 1

This workshop will be led by a legal expert with experience in representing small, minority and disadvantaged construction-related firms and other small businesses in the highway construction industry. The workshop will provide federal-aid subcontractors with an overview of legal terms and contract provisions that are significant to small businesses to ensure successful close-out activities on DDOT’s federal-aid projects.

Participants will learn basic requirements of contract performance, review key federal-aid contract provisions and how to avoid contract disputes regarding performance and payments before project close-outs. Discussion topics will include legal and non-legal remedies including the how to resolve a contract dispute, understanding the alternative dispute resolution process, the role of the contracting officer, and when to seek legal assistance.

This training is open to all certified DDOT/Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) DBE firms and other construction-related small businesses. This training is free.
